The poet/artist Tamsin Smith and artist/public defender Matt Gonzalez are organizing an auction to bolster a scholarship fund for creative writing graduate students at St. Mary’s in Moraga. These are young poets and writers from around the world who would otherwise not be able to pursue their studies at this top-notch program.

The fund was started by two of the finest poets writing today, former U.S. poet laureate Robert Hass and Griffin prize winner Brenda Hillman, who will attend on April 28th, 2019 at Guerrero Gallery for the first of what will be an annual event bringing together artists, the literary community, and collectors.

I’ll be joining 50 amazing and generous local artists in donating work. They have asked for my Gentrification Doors, which seem to me a perfect fit in this event.

There will also be fantastic cohosts including the incomparable Gina Pell, the fabulous Courtney Montgomery, and the multi-talented Jean Pettigrew Whelan, who is also one of the featured painters. Special thanks to Andres Guerrero for cohosting and welcoming us into his beautiful gallery space.
